About Elaine Vanier

Elaine decided at the age of twelve that she would be a veterinarian.

She first obtained a degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta in 1981. After further graduate study in animal science, she then moved to Saskatoon to study veterinary medicine and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1988 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

Her career in veterinary medicine includes clinical practice in Saskatoon after graduation and a satisfying career with the federal government.

Elaine received training in Reiki in Ottawa in 2002 – 2003 (1st to 3rd degree) and has been treating human clients for five years. After becoming immersed in Reiki, she decided that the approach of combining her veterinary expertise and Reiki would be the next step.

Elaine is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Ontario and has chosen to provide a form of complementary or alternative medicine, namely Reiki. Her professional training, however, situates her in the position to:

  • consult with the client’s primary veterinary practitioner on the decision to use, approach, integration and follow-up of a complementary therapy
  • advise a client in those cases where the animal is better served with conventional medicine

Elaine is currently studying Theology and Philosophy at Saint Paul University in Ottawa.
